Transformation Waves
Today's global transformation framework, the BTM² was developed in Europe by an innovative think-tank assembled to sponsor and support the inter-disciplinary Thought Leadership Network. The authors brought together 33 international thought leaders from complementary management disciplines with a mission to create an integrated framework. The result is a '360-Degree' view of the meaning of digital business transformation and how to deliver successful change. The framework is intended for C-Suite Executives, Transformation Managers, Digital Guides and Agents , and those with an academic or professional interest in change and transformation management.
An integrated transformation framework, the BTM² emphasises balance between the rational aspects of transformation and the (often-underestimated) emotional readiness of stakeholders to accept and absorb transformation initiatives. The BTM² transcends the limitations of single methods and management approaches, frequently adopted without reference to each other. Recognising four transformation phases - Envision, Engage, Transform, and Optimise - the framework integrates discipline-specific methodological and technical concepts from transformation-relevant subject areas to create an iterative process delivering transformation phases in recurring waves.
Multi-Disciplinary Iterations
The BTM² framework provides guidance and support for transformation projects by integrating multi-disciplines for Meta, Strategy, Value, Risk, Technology, Program and Project, Organizational Change, Business Process, Competence and Training Management. Where Strategy, Value, and Risk Management set the course for a successful digital transformation, five complementary disciplines enable delivery of essential transformation processes.
The Meta Management Discipline is an innovative approach to orchestrate the application of all BTM² disciplines. It incorporates business transformation culture, values, and communication, as well as formal and informal structures and roles needed for a successful transformation approach. A matrix of transformaiton concepts supports digital leaders and teams, with academic research and deep case studies insights which informed development of the framework.
Government Business Transformation Management
The GBTM² Framework is an iteration of the global method suitable for public sector environments. Public sector organisations utilise concepts, language, structures and processes that differ in significant ways from private sector, for-profit organisations. GBTM² extends and enhances the global framework by embracing these concepts and language, including a powerful focus on policy development, objectives, value and assessment to ensure alignment with uniquely public sector practices.
